Rumpus in NA over Presidential speech

ISLAMABAD—All the opposition parties reacted severely in the National Assembly over President Musharraf’s failure to address the Assembly, even after three years in office. The opposition also raised a strong protest over Dr. Sher Afgan Niazi’s chiding of the opposition members as out rightly uncivil and an unruly lot. They chanted vociferous slogans of “Shame!” “Shame!” and raised quite a ruckus.
Dr. Sher Afgan Niazi said that unless the MNAs do not withhold the honor and integrity of the Assembly, and act in a civilized and mature manner, the President would not like to address the House. The Speaker of the assembly maintained that since he had already passed his ruling over the matter earlier, he would make no further comment over the issue. On this occasion hot words were exchanged between Qazi Hussain Ahmad of JI and the Speaker. Speaking earlier, Qazi Hussain Ahmad complained bitterly about the fact that the President has not addressed the Assembly since the entire year. He was bitter about the fact that all the matters of National interest were taken directly to the NSC, bypassing this august house.—Online
