4th Kashmir crossing opened for relief goods
MUZAFFARABAD—Pakistan and India also opened the fourth Tattapani-Mendher
crossing point on Line of Control (LoC) Monday to facilitate Kashmiris
for exchanging relief goods to help each other quake-stricken relatives
living on two sides.
Report said that prior to opening of the said crossing point, Paki-India
military administrations held meeting in congenial atmosphere. A special
ceremony was arranged and Kashmiris of two Kashmir were also present on
the occasion.
Pigeons were released in open air as symbol friendship on the occasion.
It noted that only relief supplies were exchanged on Tattapani-Mendher
crossing point and Kashmiris were not allowed to cross the border.
Speaking on the occasion, authorities said that Kashmiris will be given
permission to cross frontier after their final clearance. The fourth
crossing point was opened at the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir to
facilitate the flow of aid to desperate earthquake survivors.
The fourth crossing point was opened at Tatta Pani-Mahendar area at LoC
and movement of relief supplies from the crossing between Azad and held
Kashmir were started Monday. The authorities have yet to give clearance
for the movement of people from the crossing point. A ceremony was held
for the fourth crossing opening attended by the military and civil
officials from the two sides. newsmen and large number of people from
Azad Kashmir also attended the ceremony. A rare atmosphere of friendship
and warmth was witnessed on the occasion with people from both parts of
Kashmir engaged in friendly conversation.
The Srinagar-Muzaffarabad Bus Service which was postponed after the
devastating earthquake following blockades of Ori road, has now been
restored Monday after opening of road.
According to the Inspector General of Occupied Kashmir Javed Majzoomi
that the road was washed away amid devastated earthquake, adding
after the restoration of the bus service, as many as 16 passengers who
left Srinagar for Muzaffarabad on October 6 would arrive in back
Srinagar soon. He said that passengers have to cross the Line of Control
(LoC) without use of any vehicle as no transports available on both
sides of LoC in the range of 6 kilometers.—Agencies |
