Shujaat receives Indian relief goods at Wagha border

LAHORE—President Pakistan Muslim League and former prime minister Ch. Shujaat Hussain has said that the impact of relief goods on the part of Indian traders and industrialists will be very pleasant, adding “we should love and appreciate the spirit and love of Indian delegation who has come with the relief goods.”
He expressed these views here on Sunday at Wagha border while receiving Indian relief goods on 8 trucks worth Rs.5.2 millions including blankets, warm clothes, medicines and other goods.
President Confederation of Indian Industry and well-known industrialist Sunil Kant Manjal handed over the relief goods to Ch. Shujaat Hussain. District Lahore Nazim Mian Amir Mehmood, Punjab minister for revenue Gul Hameed Khan Rokari, MNA Anwar Ali Cheema president Federation of Pakistan Chambers Ch. Muhammad Saeed, former president Iftikhar Ali Malik, vice chairman SAARC chambers of commerce Jamil Mehboob Magoon, Javed Iqbal Chaudhry, Rashid Akhtar, Rashid Saleem and many other prominent traders and industrialists were present on the occasion.
Shujaat thanked the Indian delegation on behalf of people of Pakistan, army and district Nazim Lahore and invited Indian traders and industrialists to visit Lahore and Islamabad. Indian delegation leader Sunil Kant Manjal accepted the invitation and also thanked Ch. Shujaat Hussain for receiving them at Wagha border.
He said the Indian traders and industrialists were with the people of Pakistan in the calamity and they would send more relief goods. He offered Ch. Shujaat Hussain for sending Indian experts to help and support rehabilitation work in quake hit areas.
Earlier at Wagha border the high officers of rangers, office bearers of the LCCI and the Federation welcomed Ch. Shujaat Hussain. The traders briefed Ch. Shujaat Hussain about their relief activities. Ch. Shujaat stressed the need for coordination in relief activities and said since the winter season had started as such instead of tents there was need of standard houses.
He said he was examining many houses and the best one would be selected to be provided to the survivors. He said he visited Alai thrice and also went where no body had gone for relief work. He said he took 10000 blankets to Alai and Batgram and the army sector commander told him that had he not come there with blankets there was apprehension of the killing of 5000 children.
He said the government would always take care about the respect and dignity of the survivors and would make arrangement for their respectable livelihood. He said he would again visit Alai and said there was need of relief activities in the far flung areas of Muzaffarabad.
