CJ, other judges visit quake-torn areas of AJK, NWFP

ISLAMABAD—Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry alongwith other apex court Judges visited the quake-torn areas of AJK and NWFP on Sunday and expressed great shock to view the ravaged areas.
The visit to the quake affected areas of Azad Kashmir and NWFP was to express solidarity with the affected people and personally visualize the damage caused, both to the general area as well as judicial locations.
The other judges in the entourage included, Mr. Justice Javed Iqbal, Mr. Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Mr. Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abassi, Mr. Justice Hamid Ali Mirza, and Dr. Faqir Hussain.
The delegation also called upon the Azad Kashmir President and Prime Minister to express its sorrow on the calamity.
The two executives of AJK briefed the honorable members about the spastics about dead, wounded and other material damage caused by the quake, and rehabilitation steps taken by civilian and military personal.
The delegation also visited the premises of the High Court of Azad Kashmir where they were informed about human and material losses incurred in the quake.
The delegation also visited Balakot in NWFP Province, where it was received by senior civilian and Military staff. Brig. Khattak incharge of the Relief Cell briefed the delegation about human and material damages caused by the quake. He also briefed them about relief measures being undertaken by the administration.
The delegation was also taken to a tentage village, where the affectees were accommodated and being given adequate shelter, food and drinkable water.
The Chief Justice approved and expressed his satisfaction over various measures being taken for the affectees.
