Consistent hard work for outstanding results
By Uzma Zafar

ISLAMABAD—Long are the days when education could be overestimated and did not include the focal fabric of a society. In today’s world, education forms the pillar of progress for any developing society and stands tall as a symbol of pride for the developed nations. Our country, in this regard, is known for producing the most talented and educated students of all who genuinely seek pleasure in acquiring knowledge. Where Pakistan was once known as the home to best doctors and engineers only, there with the advancement of technology, if the country has progressed in various fields, it’s only due to our talented students.
Once some international scholar was talking about Pakistani, Indian and Saudi Arabian students. He stated that Saudi Arabians do not have much interest in studies, Indians are intelligent and thus, swiftly climb the rungs of education but where Pakistanis are concerned, they are both talented and ambitious are prominent among the crowd of students anywhere around, producing the best results. And that’s the common observation and most widespread belief anyway. But these young minds can only excel provided that they given proper attention and then encouragement in the later stages of life.
Thus in order to encourage such an outstanding youth, The Daily Mail held an exclusive interview with Muhammad Rizwan; the proud recipient of second position in MSc in Statistics. When asked about the hurdles faced in acquiring his position, Rizwan explained, “Of course it’s a major feat to stand out among others and secondly, whenever one has set a target for himself, he has to work real hard for it’s acquisition. And that’s exactly what I did. I studied when required while performing all other duties at the right time as well. I feel that it’s the balance in one’s activities and responsibilities that determines his success, in the long run. I was lucky that I got what I worked for.”
Talking about teachers’ role in his success, he said, “My teachers’ part in my success is focal. I got really good teachers at my university, imparting us knowledge with such love and devotion that I think I’ve never seen such kind teachers elsewhere. I believe that we should not acquire knowledge for the sake of getting it but should use it in our practical lives as well.” He termed our current educational system as ‘limited’ while calling for expanding it’s fold through adding rapidly emerging discoveries and latest technologies in the curriculum so that not only our educational system be improved but we could also walk through the modern world affectively.
Comparing annual examination system with semester system, the student went with the later for he said it gave one more opportunity to acquire maximum knowledge in a limited time instead of having to learn everything to the heart only to forget it later on. When asked about his choice field for the future, Rizwan preferred to be in his current field as he always wanted to be a professor-cum-doctor since his childhood, he said. About why he chose his field, he explained that his profession carries dignity and welfare. “We come to this world for a set period of time. Thus we should utilize this time to perform such a deed that could leave our mark on this world”, he expressed.
He attributed his success to Almighty Allah, his parents while terming them his all-time companions and helpers, their prayers paving way for his success and his teachers, for their ever encouraging stance. Giving a message for aspiring position holders, he assured that achieving any target was not hard provided one remained steadfast to determination and consistent efforts for as they say; Where there’s a will, there’s a way!
