It is not ideal start, says English Coach

LAHORE—England Cricket Coach Duncan Flatcher Tuesday described his team’s 6 wickets loss to Pakistan A in a three day match “not an ideal start” before a three Test series against Pakistan.
“It is not an ideal situation or start for us but it has happened before as we lost matches in our tour to South Africa but later on managed to win the big games”, he told reporters after the match at Bagh-i-Jinnah ground here.
The English coach said players would do better in the test series which starts from November 12 at Multan. “I am confident they would regain the thythm to do better in the big games”.
He said the English team management was still awaiting the final opinion from the medical experts in England to know the exact amount of injury to captain Michael Vaughan who twisted his keen on the second day of the play.
“We cannot say whether he would be undergoing surgery or he is not available for the test in Multan, we will be concluding something tonight or tomorrow (Wednesday) after receiving reports of scans and x-rays from the medical experts in England”, he asserted.
Michael has a long history for a similar injury and in the given circumstances its seems that his chances of playing the first test appear bleak.
He said Owais Shah and Robert Key were the two likely replacements but both were overlooked due to injuries.
“At this stage we cannot say who will be replacing him or what are the replacement options but we have made a firm call for replacement and everything will be decided in the light of the advise of the medical experts”, he said.
He said the team doctor Peter Gregory was not in position to comment on the injury of the English Captain because in such cases predictions cannot be made”.—Agencies
