Pak Army opens major AJK roads

RAWALPINDI—More than 14,000 troops of Army Engineers are busy day and night to open up the roads in the earthquake devastated areas even in presence of the great difficulties as the continuous phenomenon of aftershocks and landslides. Whereas all roads in Rawalakot and Bagh district have been reopened by the Pakistan Army Engineers. Most of the roads in Muzaffarabad district have also been reopened except Neelum Valley and some portion of Muzaffarabad-Chakothi road.
A Balley Bridge was successfully launched by Engineers troops to keep the communication open at Lamnian.
Meanwhile the twenty eight kilometre long road from Lipa to Rashian has been opened after an exhaustive work. Twenty kilometre long stretch of Garhi Dupatta-Pathiali-Ranjkot-Nauseri road has been opened while the nine kilometre of Bagh-Chhattar-Chakothi road out the total twenty five kilometres has also been cleared.
Engineers troops working in Muzaffarabad city during last twenty four hours recovered another five dead bodies from rubble in various parts of the city and disposed off 440 dumpers from various parts of the city. Road Thakot-Banna has been opened for all types of traffic. It is twenty eight kilometre long road.
The work on Kaghan-Balakot road is in full swing. Thirty five kilometre stretch of road has been repaired while the remaining five kilometre will be opened shortly. An Engineers Battalion has been employed at Rawalakot for reconstruction work. Troops of Army Engineers are also employed at Dhirkot, Garhi Dupatta and Shinkiari for reconstruction of the damaged buildings.—ISPR
