ISLAMABAD—Pakistan has asked Indian to provide if it possesses any kind of solid proof vis-ŕ-vis involvement of Pakistani elements in New Delhi bomb blasts, we assure you that Islamabad will take a serious action over it, a Foreign Office officials said on Wednesday.
President Gen Pervez Musharraf had expressed deep grief and sorrow over losses of precious lives in Delhi blasts and train incident and asked Indian prime minister who identified some elements behind the heinous crime. President Musharraf asked Manmohan to provide any kind of solid proof in this regard, Pakistan will take serious action against them, said foreign office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam in her weekly press briefing.
Pakistan will continue cooperation with international community in war against terrorism, we will not allow terrorists to hamper any kind of peace activity in the region, Tasneem added.
On a question, she said India cannot open line of control unilaterally, but we are getting some positive signals from New Delhi and it should be helpful for the earthquake affectees.
We have decided to open Loc at five point to facilitate Kashmiris across the control line, which will be operational from November 7; where Kashmiri families will be allowed to meet each other and they can use the permit given to them for Muzaffarabad-Srinagar bus service for this reason, she said. We were ready to accept identity cards as well as driving licenses to facilitate Kashmiri families, however India did not agree over this matter, she regretted.
The spokesperson on another query said if India agrees to declare Kashmir as demilitarized zone then we can talk over this issue as well.
On a question regarding NATO, she dispelled the impression that NATO troops were present in Pakistan, these are not NATO troops but a unit of technical and relief experts, who are working to improve the infrastructure of quake-hit areas.
NATO is here at our request and we are in constant touch with them over the nature and duration of the mission, they will stay here only for three months, however we will need more time to bring the life at normal in quake devastated areas of NWFP and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, she said.
She said international community has pledged US$ 580 million for relief and rehabilitation of quake-hit areas in International Donors Conference, however the transfer of relief funds is very slow and even international community has expressed grave concern over it; the situation will create problems for Pakistan as serious winter is approaching the mountainous regions and international community must speed up its efforts. Besides Western states, Islamic countries have generously provided relief items in goods and monetary form and we appreciate it, we have received plenty of relief from Turkey, Iran who were the first to send relief goods to Pakistan. even Cuba had send a team of 300 doctors who are serving in quake hit areas.
US has provided us US $156 million, Turkey US $150 million, Saudi Arabia US $133 million and we appreciate it, she added.
The spokesperson also apprised the newsmen that the planned visit of a Pakistani delegation to Palestine has been cancelled in the backdrop of earthquake devastations and the dates for the future visit will be announced later.
