SPI registers nominal increase in kitchen items’ prices

ISLAMABAD—The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on
October 27 for the lowest income group upto Rs. 3000 has registered
0.29% increase over previous week.
The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was
recorded at 133.66 as against 133.27 recorded in the previous week,
according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS). The weekly SPI has
been computed with base 2000-2001=100 covering 17 urban centers and 53
essential items for all income groups and combined.
During the week under review average prices of 13 items registered
decrease, while those of 11 items increased with remaining 29 items’
prices unchanged.
The items which recorded decrease in their average prices during the
week under review included gur, LPG (11 KG Cylinder), garlic, gram pulse
washed, red chillies powdered, rice basmati broken, mash pulse washed,
wheat flour (av. qlty), moong pulse washed, cooking oil (tin), tea
(packet), bath soap (lifebuoy) and veg. ghee (loose). The items which
registered increase in their prices included tomatoes, sugar, egg
(farm), bananas, potatoes, onions, firewood, beef, chicken farm, wheat
and masoor pulse washed.
The items with no change in their average prices during the week under
review included rice irri-6, mutton, bread plain med. size, milk fresh,
milk powdered (Nido), curd, veg. ghee (tin), mustard oil, salt
(powdered), tea (prepared), cooked beef (plate), cooked dal (plate),
cigarettes K-2, coarse latha, lawn, voil printed, shirting, Sandal gents
(Bata), Sandal ladies (Bata), Chappal spng. (Bata), kerosene, . bulb
(60-Wats), match box, washing soap (nylon), gas charges upto 3.3719
MMBTU, elec. charges 1-100, petrol, diesel and telephone charges. |
