By Tariq Chaudhry
RAWALPINDI—Pakistan's livestock sector can surely boost socio-economic
development, if proper attention is given to purify it from viral
diseases.
No national livestock policy has ever been formed that could match with
the realities on ground, said President of Pakistan Livestock Research
Scientists Association, Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Matiullah. He made these
observations while addressing a seminar on the subject of "Livestock
Policy, Its Implications and Latest Research" held here.
Dr. Hafiz Muhammad said latest homoeo research in livestock sector
inspired national agricultural research institutions enoughto force the
University of Animal Sciences, Lahore to start Ph.D. programme after
awarding M.Sc. degrees in homoeo research.
He maintained Indian and European Union researchers had also
acknowledged the efficacy of latest homoeo curative against viral
diseases of livestock sector.
India is now placing orders with us for provision of homoeo medications,
he added.
Dr. Hafiz said our policy makers, on the contrary, were not paying heed
toward this major breakthrough as the English medicines were not
curative of viral diseases of herds like Foot and Mouth Disease. These
effective, cheap and side effects-free medicines should be included in
national livestock policy, he added.
Speakers in their address asked the government to remove hurdle in the
policy and take benefit from this latest research.
They were of the view that this research could enhance the productivity
of livestock sector up to 100 percent within two years.
The seminar was organized by Pakistan Livestock Research Scientists
Association.
Scientists, researchers and livestock experts from national agricultural
institutions and private sector were present on the occasion. |
