Faisal for compensation to maximum survivors before Eid

ISLAMABAD—Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat has directed the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government to pay financial compensation to maximum number of quake affectees before Eid-ul-Fitar.
The minister asked the AJK government to give top priority to distribution of compensation because the quake affectees were in grave distress. It may be mentioned here that the government had announced Rs one lac compensation for those dead in the earthquake, Rs 25,000 for those whose houses have collapsed and Rs 10,000 for those who have been injured.
The AJK government has already started distribution of compensation.
Faisal said that the earthquake had caused massive lose of lives and destruction of houses and thousands of people had been injured who were getting medical treatment.m. He said the government was trying to help the survivors by paying compensation so that they could have a new beginning.
The minister said that the federal government was concerned that the compensation amount should reach the quake victims at the earliest so that their miseries could be minimized. The minister also asked the AJK government to prepare statistics of people displaced in the earthquake and living in AJK and at various places in Pakistan.
Faisal Saleh Hayat said that though the aid was pouring in from home and abroad for quake victims, huge funds would be required for the process of reconstruction. The minister said that ministries of Youth Affairs, Women Development and Special Education were collaborating to prepare a strategy for the rehabilitation of quake victims.
Faisal Saleh Hayat observed that youth from various provinces of Pakistan will have to be mobilized for taking part in the reconstruction work. He said that youth could play a very active role in building the houses of the quake victims which were destructed in the earth quake.The minister said the university students would have to be involved in this process and every student could spend some time of his academic year in the quake hit areas for taking part in the reconstruction work.
