Timely co-op in quake
disaster
The most horrible and dreadful earthquake of 8th October has not only
assembled the friends and associates of Pakistan in the whole world but
that also mobilized the honorable and great leader of Libya Col. Moa mar
Qaddafi, who feels himself the nearest ally of the Pakistani nation and
collaborator in their sorrow and grief in this stricken moment.
He ordered to his officials to reach Pakistan for assistance and
cooperation in relief and rehabilitation measures in quake-effected
areas and wrote a personal letter to the President of Pakistan General
Pervez Musharraf, in which he not only made his condolence and sympathy
but offered all kind of harmonization, support and help from himself and
his nation in this biggest relief operation of the world.
At initial stage he immediately dispatched 6 aeroplanes with thousands
of blankets, tents, foodstuff, medicine and medical equipments to
Pakistan. On 21st October he sent 26 members team headed by Director
General, Cooperation Department of Libya Dr Jamal Al-Barq that was
consisted on17 doctors and Para-Medical staff and 9 rescue workers and
assistants.
Director General for African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
Pakistan, welcomed Dr Jamal. In the first meeting with DG African
Affairs, Dr Jamal delivered this message to him that the whole Libyans
are with Pakistan in these hours of misfortune, tragedy and disaster.
This special Libyan team is fully qualified to handle all kinds of
after-quake diseases and infections and now is serving day and night at
village Jeipury near Mansehra with the cooperation and coordination of
Libyan Embassy situated at Islamabad. This team is treating more than
350 patients daily providing them free medicine.
The brothers of Pakistan warmly welcomed this 26-member team in their
country and other than Government each and every citizen cooperated with
them. I witnessed that the quake-stricken people are annoyed in delay of
aid from International community but they are not only happy but also
grateful to the Great Leader of Libya, Col Moa mar Qaddafi for helping
them in time. They also have this opinion that Libyan people and
Government has proved Islamic unity and harmony in these hours of
sorrow, took immediate action and provided essential needs which were
not available here at this moment.
There is no doubt that heart of every Libyan is with Pakistani nation.
The Great Leader of Libya, Col. Moa mar Qaddafi is always with Pakistan
and he received the same emotions and feelings from this country. In
this moment when Pakistan is facing a hard situation, this is our first
duty to share it in all its needs and necessities, because our Great
Leader, Col. Moa mar Qaddafi has always proved himself as first helping
hand in all over the world in these conditions.
On my arrival in Pakistan I saw that the people of Pakistan are very
much satisfied and happy for assistance, which they received from Libya
and they also said that the Pakistani nation will never forget greatness
and immensity of their friend like Libya and its Great Leader, Col Moa
mar Qaddafi.
This Libyan team, which is serving near Mansehra will stay in Pakistan
till further orders and will provide all assistance and treatment to the
quake-effected people with all his skills and hardworking so that they
can once again be a useful citizens of their country and may work for
their families as earlier days of earthquake.
This is also a need and requirement of brotherhood, friendship and unity
among the Islamic countries that we should not leave Pakistan alone in
this moment of misery and calamity. This is our duty to share it in all
his needs and necessities and to help it for healing those injuries,
which its people have received in recent earthquake.
It is necessary to mention here that our team has treated and operated
to hundreds of patients so far. This is basic requirement of the
situation that we must try to evacuate and withdraw these states of
painful affairs and also provide shelter and protection to helpless and
hopeless people with unity, accord and unison. This is also our prime
responsibility to give a new hope to the stricken people so that they
can again start their lives with new belief, expectations and potential.
