Shields pregnant with second child
LOS
ANGELES—Actress Brooke Shields, whose first experience as a mother led
to her book about postpartum depression, is expecting her second child
with TV writer Chris Henchy, her publicist said on Thursday. The
40-year-old actress, now starring in a Broadway production of the hit
musical “Chicago,” is due to give birth sometime in the spring of 2006,
her spokeswoman’s office said. No further details were given.
News of her pregnancy was first reported on the Web site of the
syndicated TV show “The Insider.” Shields, who burst onto the Hollywood
scene playing a child prostitute in the 1978 film “Pretty Baby” and
later starred in her own television sitcom, “Suddenly Susan,” gave birth
to her first child, daughter Rowan Francis, in the spring of 2003.
Shields fired back in a New York Times opinion column published in July,
rebuking Cruise’s comments as a “ridiculous rant” and “a disservice to
mothers everywhere.”
