Ines Rivero: What’s in her bag
Erin Skrypek
NEW
YORK—Ines Rivero, like any model of her calibre, basically lives out of
a suitcase. She and her four-year-old daughter, Mya, may be based in
Manhattan, but between her incessant travels for work, her frequent
visits back to her native Argentina and her penchant for sandy
vacations, she’s more of a fixture on a plane than she is in her
downtown apartment. Obviously, if anyone can pack a mean suitcase, it’s
Rivero. Work or playground, black-tie events or lounging by the sea, she
always looks good. Yes, she’s beyond gorgeous and could wear sac and
still look amazing, but still, you have to wonder how she keeps her skin
looking fresh and camera-ready day in and day out, an eight hour flight
here and a 12 hour one there – a person could get dehydrated just
thinking about it.
After weeks of trying to pin her down, FWD finally captured Rivero on a
brief stint in New York during fashion week. First thing we wanted to
know: Between all her events, her work and chasing after her 4-year-old,
it there anyone she looks to for fashion ideas? “I love the way Angelina
Jolie dresses,” Rivero says. “You know, a skirt to the knees, fitted,
but not too tight - she always looks elegant. That’s that kind of look I
wear to lunches, events and things. Otherwise, I’m in my jeans.”
What kind of jeans?
“Seven,” she says. “I can’t stop wearing them.”
What can’t she leave town without?
“My pumps,” Rivero responds. “These Yves Saint Laurent ones I got two
seasons ago. They are these brown and black snakeskin, classic, pointy
pumps that go with everything. And my swimsuits. I’ll bring 10 different
bathing suits even if I’m going somewhere for 4 days. They are all from
Argentina. The designer Talina from there is great. The bottoms are
small in back - the South American cut - it’s really good, it makes the
butt look better than it really is.”
“I also have this horrible looking pillow for my neck,” she continues.
“It’s from Stanfordpedics. I can’t travel without that thing…And a
picture of my daughter! I never travel without that!”
What about Rivero’s skin? What does she always take with her?
“I have a few creams,” she says. “There is this one cream I get in from
Argentina with loads of units of Vitamin E in it. It’s really good. I
also use Shu Uemura’s Depsea Therapy Moisture Recovery Equiwater because
you can put it on before everything. It’s this jelly that dries and
keeps your face sealed so it doesn’t dry out. It keeps all the moisture
in.”
“I always have Kiehl’s lip balm with SPF,” Rivero adds. “I never switch,
I’ve been using it for years. I don’t take too much makeup with me, but
M.A.C has great glosses and I use their stick foundation as my under eye
concealer. And you know what is really good? The Yves Saint Laurent
golden stick [Touche Éclat]. Everyone should have that. I also like
Embryolisse makeup. You can buy it in France, I’m not sure if you can
get it here.”
What about facials?
“I go to Bliss sometimes,” says Rivero. “I used to go to Tracie Martyn a
lot…I love her cleanser! And the serum too. And that scrub - the green
one… That’s great.”
How does she keep her hair looking healthy after so much styling…and
sun?
“I get my colour done at Arrojo,” she says. “Jane does it. And I use the
Kerastase cream treatment to condition. I always put oils in my hair for
the summer to protect it from UV rays.”
And finally, what will she splurge on this fall?
“Sergio Rossi boots - boots with heels!” |
