NWFP gets Rs1.5b for rehabilitation

MINGORA—State Minister for Water and Power Amir Muqam on Friday said that Federal government has given Rs 1.5 billion to NWFP regime for the rehabilitation of earthquake victims. In an exclusive interview to inp, the minister said that sixty four helicopters were engaged in relief activities, while several camp hospital had also been established in quake hit areas, where injured were provided with needed treatment. He said provincial administration had been asked to estimate the loss caused by killer earthquake on October 8, so that affected people could be provided prompt financial aid. The Minister informed that Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal was providing financial aid for quake victims while Pakistan Muslim League under the supervision of Ch Shujaat Hussain was also actively participating in relief activities. About the shortage of tents, he said to meet the growing demands of tents, government was importing tents from abroad while tent production at domestic level is underway at a great pace. He appealed to the people to extend wholehearted assistance to the quake affected people on humanitarian basis.—INP
