President, Annan discuss relief operations

ISLAMABAD—Secretary General United Nations Kofi Annan and President Gen Pervez Musharraf talked on phone late Friday wherein they exchanged views on the pace of relief activities for quake affectees under way in the quake-torn areas of Azad Kashmir and NWFP.
Both the leaders also discussed matters in reference to the reaction of international community in Donors Conference held in Geneva and also talked about the matters of upcoming Donors Conference to be held in Islamabad next month.
President Musharraf with especial reference lauded the role of United Nations for extending relief assistance to the quake affectees and thanked UN Secretary General Kofi Annan for his personnel interest and dedication in jacking-up relief activities.
President Gen Pervez Musharraf and UN Secretary General are in constant contact after the disastrous quake of October 8 in Azad Kashmir and NWFP in Pakistan.
