Kashmiris observe Black Day against Indian occupation

MIRPUR—Like other parts of Azad Jammu Kashmir, October 27 black day was also observed across Mirpur district to express indignation against the forcible landing of the Indian military troops in Occupied Jammu Kashmir this day, 58 years ago in 1947. Kashmiris residing either side of the line of control (LoC) and rest of the world observe this day every year as the Black Day to register protest and resentment against the Indian occupation in Kashmir. The District National Events Organizing Committee held a meeting here Thursday to observe the Black day. Chairman and Deputy Commissioner Ghulam Bashir Mughal were in the chair. Those attended the meeting included Secretary General of the committee ARM Hamid Rao and the representative people of cross sections of the society. They strongly condemned the continued unlawful Indian occupation on the Occupied Jammu Kashmir at the might of her military power. Participants of the protest meeting wore black bands as a mark of indignation and protest against the continued Indian subjugation over major part of Jammu Kashmir state over last six decades.
Speakers urged upon the world community and the international organizations to take immediate notice of the Indian military occupation in Jammu Kashmir. They urged upon the world community to perform its due global obligations to get the right of self-determination for Kashmiris, which India is denying over the last six decades. Through a unanimously passed resolution, the protest meeting welcomed the ongoing composite dialogue process between Pakistan and India and expressed the hope that both the countries would succeed in resolving the Kashmir issue according to the wishes of the Jammu & Kashmir people.—APP
