Punjab CM gives Rs30m grant for allied hospitals of twin cities

RAWALPINDI—Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has announced a formal grant of Rs30 million for the allied hospitals of Rawalpindi whereas Rs10,000 each for injured persons on behalf of Punjab government after the killer earthquake. Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi expressed these views while addressing in a joint press conference with Federal Information Minister Sheikh Rashid in Lal Hawali on Tuesday.
He said that the victims of quake affected areas will be given accommodation in Tent City near Attock and Chakwal motorway underlining that he is greatly thankful to the Pakistani nation who have stood firm in this critical juncture. In the meantime Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and Sheikh Rashid visited Allied hospitals including Holy Family, Rawalpindi General Hospital, and District Headquarters Rawalpindi besides relief camp set up in Crescent Hall in Rawalpindi to inquire about the health of the affectees of earthquake.
On the occasion, they were given a formal briefing by high officials of Health Department Rawalpindi and Medical Superintendents. They said that optimum facilities are being provided to the patients whereas all the staff are on their toes to provide maximum help to the down trodden people as they are in serious mental torture after the October 8 natural disaster.
They said that 4210 patients were admitted, out of which three thousand and eighty have been discharged and shifted to various relief camps. Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and Sheikh Rashid said that a Tent Village would be established near Attock and Chakwal Motorway.
Replying to a question CM Pervaiz Elahi ordered local government to formally present a report of the cracks occurred after killer earthquake in various education institutions and changes are being implemented in Building by-laws so that new buildings and houses are safe from such natural catastrophes. In another question, CM said that Model Rescue Service is being started in Punjab whereas improvement in Fire Brigade and Ambulance.
On the other hand, Sheikh Rashid said that Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi is taking keen interest in relief activities and relief work is gaining momentum since he took charge of the relief activities after passing of just two days in this regard.
