Sialkot beats Lahore Shalimar by 6 wickets

LAHORE—Sialkot, riding on a fiery knock (97) by test discard, Imran Nazir beat fancied Lahore Shalimar by 6 wickets on the third day of 4-day Quaid-e-Azam trophy (Gold League) here at LCCA ground here on Monday. Imran piled up runs with aggressive unbeaten stroke play, putting Lahore’s so-called strong attack at sword, hammering 17 flowing boundaries in a well-admired knock ,consuming 96 balls off 181 minutes.
Imran’s superb knock helped Lahore to score 228 for 4 in 42.5 overs, chasing a victory target of 224. Lahore gained 50 runs first innings lead by making 178 allout in 72.5 overs and then dismissing opponents at 128 in 39 overs. Imran participated in two major partnerships, joining Faisal Khan (32) for the third wicket which produced 64 runs and then associating another test discarded Qaiser Abbas (44) to score 94 runs for the unbroken 5th wicket partnership. Faisal stroked 5 fours and Qaiser hit 8 boundaries as Shahid Yousaf made (23). Earlier Lahore resumed at overnight score of 109 for 6 in 47 overs and were bowled out 174 runs in 65.4 overs.
Wicketkeeper batsman Hamayun Farhat, another test discard, top scored with (45 including one six and five fours) before resuming at previous score of (3).Lahore tail ender failed to flourish as Sialkot batsmen took control with accurate bowling.—Agencies
