Pak Army pilots’ role commended

ISLAMABAD—The ever savior pilots of Army Aviation, Sunday night flew another impossible mission to save the precious lives of two innocent children from the quake-afflicted areas.
According to details fire broke-out in a tent of Mir Zaman, a victim of earthquake who was residing in a tent village at Baisan, near Balakot. His two children Saad, 12 and Maria 14 got sever burn injuries and were required to be evacuated to Burn Centre Kharian for necessary medical treatment.
Two Bel-412 helicopters were flown from Abbottabad to rescue the seriously injured children to Kharian Burn Centre. Helicopters flown by Lt Col Abid and Maj Khattak and Maj Usman and Maj Salahuddin immediately took off to undertake the ardous task of rescue in pitch dark hours of the mountainous area. The daring pilots airlifted the children and evacuated them to Burn Centre Kharian after midnight at 2.45 am, and set another example of service without caring one’s life.
Army Aviation Pilots have been extensively flying during light hours since earthquake of October 8, however it was the first mission of its kind during night time which was carried out to save the precious lives.—APP
