Research-oriented book launched

ISLAMABAD—A research-oriented book containing thought provoking articles of renowned researchers on the Political economy of Pakistan from National Institute of Pakistan Studies, the Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, saw light of the day on Monday.
These articles are contributed under the Research promotion program (RPP) funded by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) inwhich the attitude of masses and that of the ruling elite towards democracy in Pakistan is highlighted.
This 139 page book is edited by a prominent researcher and scholar of linguistics, Indus Civilization and Pakistan Affairs Prof. Dr. Ghulam Hyder, director of NIPS and Mr. Masood Akhtar Zahid.
The book contains the articles of well-known figures on thesubject. These include Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Ms Farhat Iftikhar, Mr. Rashid Hassan Rana, Dr. Sarfraz Hussain Ansari, Dr. Islam Shah and editors of the book Dr. Ghulam Hyder and Masood Akhtar Zahid.
The book covers the period of 1985 to 88 and is a beautiful addition to research material on democracy in Pakistan. In the words of Dr. Hyder, researchers have tried to pay due consideration to convey information, knowledge and have tried to sustain the interest of readers.
This book is not only handy the students of PakistanStudies, Political Science, Regional languages, Sociology but also for the political economists, parliamentarians, Human development activists, human rights activists and NGO workers.
Prof. Hyder is a member of many learned societies and human resource development associations including American Oriental Society, Research and Evaluation Boards of University of Sindh Jamshoro, Shah Abdul Lateef University Khairpur and Peshawar University, Peshawar.
