‘Relief efforts in full swing’
ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Population welfare Chaudhry Shahbaz
Hussain has expressed his commitment to boosts up on going relief
efforts of the government to relive the victims of earthquake here
Sunday.
He said his ministry has set up 75 medical camps in earthquake
devastated areas of Bagh, Mansehra, Muzaffarabad, Balakot and Abbottabad
which are working under different teams of doctors round the clock.
He further said that his ministry has sent heavy consignment of relief
goods including medicines, three-fifty tents, two thousand blankets,
water, biscuits, torches, warm clothes and cotton.
He added that Dr. Tufail of regional training institute, Peshawar has
ordered of huge quantity of tents and blankets worth of Rs. 2.1 million.
Dr. Donya Aziz also visited earthquake-hit areas and she is still
monitoring relief activities going on under ministry of population
welfare.
He appreciated the coordinated efforts of some partners including UNFPA,
R.H AID and SMC. He stated UNFPA has provided about eight fully equipped
mobiles unites used for treatments of the injured while social marketing
center has provided 2,62000 sachets (a product of protector and gamble)
to purify about 26,20,000 liters of water.
These sachets were also used to clean water. Later, the minister visited
the site under construction population house and passed necessary
instructions that the earthquake resistance material must be used to
avoid any eventuality in future.—APP |
