Media playing positive role in relief operations: Ajmal

ISLAMABAD—It is the well-established fact that media has been playing a vital role and creating awareness among the masses at local as well at international level about the sufferings of earthquake victims, said Federal Minister for Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs Muhammad Ajmal Khan.
It is the media, which mobilized the people to come forward in order to help the affected people, the minister said in statement here Sunday.
The minister, who is also the member of committee of NWFP to coordinate and supervise the relief and rehabilitation efforts, stated that media set priorities for the people and made reachable those areas which were inaccessible.
While commenting on the relief and rehabilitation efforts, he said that government along with the people and international community, is making all out efforts to give maximum relief to the people.
The government has extended relief operation to the far-flung areas in spite of unfriendly weather and cold, he said adding the government under the leadership of President General Pervez Musahrraf and Prime Minister, utilizing maximum energy and making all out efforts to meet the challenge.
He said the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs is also doing it level best to extend maximum help and support to the earthquake victims.
In this regard the Wing of Youth is very active and taking full participation in relief efforts, he said.
