5 filtration plants in AJK to be functional next week

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for environment, Maj (Retd) Tahir Iqbal, visited Muzaffarabad to monitor the installation of water filtration plant for provision of clean drinking water to the earthquake stricken people.
Five filtration plants would be installed in the quake-affected areas including Bagh, Balakot and Mansehra, which would start functioning within next week.
The plants have been arranged by the ministry of environment in collaboration with the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and each plant has a capacity of generating 200 gallons of water per hour.
The minister informed that these plants would be fixed in large containers as all the buildings are either collapsed or cracked.
The first filtration plant with the container has already reached Muzaffarabad and a team of the ministry of environment is finalizing the arrangements for it's fixing. UNICEF is providing necessary equipments or fixing the plants and making them functional.
