Future of tentage village in Capital hanged into uncertainty
ISLAMABAD—The contradictory statements by government responsible
regarding establishment of tentage village for earthquake affected
people in the capital territory has created uneasiness amongrefugees,
patiently waiting for early settlement in the proposed tents village.
Following the statement by Federal Relief Commissioner Maj. Gen. Farooq
Ahmed Khan that no tent city was being established in the capital has
created disappointment among the refugees.
To the contrary, earlier the member of National Assembly and Coordinator
Relief Commission, Kishmala Tariq during a press conference had taken
strict note of the delay in establishment of tent village and directed
the Chief Commissioner and Chairman CDA to speed up the work for setting
up tent village for refugees. Likewise a in a meeting of CDA it was also
decided that NGOs would provide 250 tents for proposed tents village at
sector H-11.
The differentiation in statements by government responsible on the
matter of tentage village have hanged future of proposed village in
uncertainty and created number of suspicions among the refugees, whether
the promised tentage village would be materialized or not.
