Islamic relief raises fund for quake victims

ISLAMABAD—Member of Islamic Relief held a conference here on Thursday to tell the efforts for the earthquake victims of AJK.
Dr. Ahmad president of Islamic Relief (IR) USA along with Rehana Kausar president Islamic Medical Association, Ran M Patch from North America, Dr. Rasheed and Adil Al malik accompanied the conference.
Dr. Ahmad stated that Islamic Relief has allocated 216 millions for relief efforts but its target is to raise that figure to Rs. 500 million. Islamic Relief’s emergency teams together with other International NGOs are currently in Rawlakot, District Bagh and Muzaffarabad to assist the victims; Islamic Relief’s office in Neelam Valley is assisting the victims from its own stock as till now Neelam Valley is not access able he added.
He stated that he would visit the earthquake-affected areas in AJK and provide the much-needed aid from USA containing on tents, blanket, medical and other equipment.
Dr. said that to eradicate poverty we believe in working in partnership with the local communities to help them achieve sustainable development. Project by IR have been supported by a number of institutions such as DFID, WFP, UNICEF, UNHCR, CIDA, ICRC, CRS and CAFOD.
Rehana Kausar president Islamic medical Association stated that we have set up three hospitals in Muzaffarabd, Rawlakotand and Bagh where the forty patients have been attended. She said that we would provide all the medical assistance to the victims.
