150 Aviation Cadets of PAF Academy sent on relief mission

ISLAMABAD—A contingent of 150 Aviation Cadets of PAF Academy alongwith their instructors reached Battagram to help their countrymen affected by the devastating earthquake, as soon the road to Battagram was opened.
The Base Camp of PAF Academy was established on the riverside. The relief operation was started immediately on the same night. The Aviation Cadets carried out its sector wise relief operation in close coordination with PAF Army. For this purpose, food, medicines, clothes and other essential items were provided to needy people at their doors. The operation was carried out in a systematic manner in which the help to the needy was extended from nearer to the farther places. The affected areas of Battagram Tehsil, where transport can reach, the help is being extended on trucks, tractors and jeeps. However, the Aviation Cadets and officers even are reaching far flung areas on foot and carrying medicines on their back-packs. A medical team of the PAF Academy, Risalpur also accompanied the contingent who provided the much needed help to the injured and evacuated the serious patients to the main hospitals.
The contingent also carried out a survey of the area and the Air Officer Commanding of PAF Academy, coordinated the air drops of relief aid by cargo PAF planes and helicopters in Battagram area. So far, the Aviation Cadets have distributed more then 100 tones of supplies to the people of the area.—DPR(Air)
