Minister for integrated efforts to rehabilitate quake victims

ISLAMABAD—Minister for Defence Rao Sikandar Iqbal on Tuesday said the Government has chalked out a plan to rehabilitate the people of earthquake-affected areas in a speedy manner.
The government has mobilized all resources at its disposal to carry out the relief and rescue operations in the areas badly devastated by the earthquake, he said.
He dispelled the impression created by certain quarters that the rescue and relief activities were not being carried out in a speedy and coordinate dmanner.
The Minister said that the earthquake had devastated most parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and NWFP and the rehabilitation was a gigantic task, which had initiated measures to rescue and rehabilitate the people hit by the earthquake on war footings.
He said that Armed Forces of the country had done a commendable job in the rescue and relief activities and shifting of wounded people to the different parts of the country.
He said “ we need to initiate integrated and unified efforts at this critical juncture instead of criticizing each other.”
The Minister lauded the efforts of armed forces, NGOs and other civic bodies and International Donors for contributing in rescue and relief efforts in the affected areas. —APP
