‘Govt committed for rehabilitation of toddlers’

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Social Welfare and Special Education, Zobaida Jalal Tuesday said, the present government is fully committed for the rehabilitation and treatment of earthquake affectees children.
During her visit here at National Institute of Special Education (NISE), the Minister said, her Ministry's top priority is to accommodate and rehabilitate the earthquake affectees children and taking a number of steps toward that end.
Under the dynamic leadership of President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, we have taken said steps aimed at providing relief and healthcare facilities to the affectees children, she added.
About NISE relief camp, the Minister said, the camp has been set up by her Ministry in which more than 116 children including 30-orphan, who were discharged from various hospitals, have been shifted for further necessary care and treatment.
She said, relief camp could accommodate over 150 children while more relief camps are being established for toddlers at special education centres.
Zobaida said, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mail, a body working under the Ministry of Social Welfare, is providing relief goods including clothes, meal and medicines to the affectees.
The minister also went round various rooms/wards and talked to the injured being treated at the camp.
She praised the tireless and around the clock efforts of NISE management, doctors, para-medical staff and volunteers including girl guides and boy scouts.
Zobaida Jalal also appreciated the efforts of registered NGO's, volunteers and international community added that they are keen to work with us in future.
Earlier, Deputy Director NISE, Shabbir Shahbaz briefed the Minister about the relief work. Senior officials of Ministry of Social Welfare and NISE were also present on the occasion.
