Holmes’ ex-husband talks about TomKat

LOS ANGELES—Chris Klein is finally speaking out about his ex-fiancée Katie Holmes and her new fiancé, Tom Cruise, and for pretty much the first time ever, we’re mildly interested in something he has to say. The corn-fed actor, who dated mom-to-be Holmes for five scandal-free years (they were engaged for more than a year), says their March break-up was caused by the embers of their love slowly burning out.
“We grew up,” Klein tells Details magazine. “The fantasy was over, and reality set in. We weren’t lighting each other’s fire anymore.” And what about the guy who is currently sparking Katie’s flame (or at least firing up the lights on her e-meter)? Chris has no strong feelings either way about Cruise’s frenzied, furniture-abusing declarations of devotion.
“... [T]hat’s Tom. He can do whatever the [bleep] he wants,” he eloquently tells the mag. “Who gives a [bleep]? I mean, we’ve all felt the need to jump up and down on a couch. Or not!” Klein, who pled guilty in April to a drunk-driving charge, stresses that his life post-Katie is just ducky, thanks for asking. “I’m not lonely,” he says. “I’ll tell you that. I’m certainly not crying myself to sleep at night, sucking my thumb. No, dude, I’m out and about.”
And he’s working, with four movies in various stages of production, which is four more than his onetime squeeze. According to People magazine, Holmes has just opted out of the Dennis Quaid drama “Shame on You” due to her rapidly swelling belly.
