Nazims, LG Councilors take Oath

ISLAMABAD—Elected Nazims and members of Zila Councils and Tehsil/Town
Councils as well as Nazims/Naib Nazims and members of Union Councils
administered oath on Monday (October 17). Election Commission had
appointed Presiding Officers who administered oath from the elected LG
representatives. The third phase of Local Government elections was held
on October 6, 2005 in which District Nazims, Tehsil/Taluka Nazims, Town
Nazims for Tehsils/Talukas or Towns and members of Zila Councils and
Tehsil/Taluka Councils or Town Councils against the seats reserved for
Women, Peasants/Workers and Minority Communities were elected. Due to
recent earthquake in North West Frontier Province (NWFP) holding of
oath-taking proceedings in Manshera, Battagram, Kohistan, Shangla and
Abbottabad districts have been postponed till October 19, 2005.
Peshawar Bureau adds: Newly elected District Nazims of 19 districts out
of 24 and elected councillors of the District Councils of NWFP were
Monday administered oath by the respective District and Session Judges.
District Nazims elect of five quake hit districts of Mansehra, Battagram,
Shangla, Kohistan and Abbotabad would take oath on October 19 along with
councillors elected through indirect elections against reserved seats of
the District Council. In Peshawar District and Session Jude Shahjehan
Akhunzada administered oath to the District Nazim Ghulam Ali and elected
councillors of the District at Nishtar Hall.
Similarly, the Returning Officers administered oath to the newly elected
nazims of Town_1 Haji Shaukat Ali, Town-II Muhammad Sharif, Town-III
Shakirullah Khan and Town-IV Arbab Aamir Ayub and elected councillors of
four towns at their respective Town Councils Hall. District Returning
Officer Chitral, District & Sessions Judge Saleem Jan Khan administered
the oath from newly elected District Nazim Haji Maghfirat Shah,
Councilors and lady Councilors of Zila Council here Monday.
Addressing at the oath taking ceremony, newly elected district Nazim
pledged to continue to work for the development of the area. He claimed
that work on Lawari tunnel, launching of wireless loop telephone and
mobilink mobile service were launched by him. He said that he would work
for the progress and prosperity of the people of Chitral district. On
this occasion, the newly elected district Nazim expressed his deep grief
and sorrow over the colossal loss of precious human lives and property
occurred in last week devastating earthquake.
He prayed to Allah Almighty to grant eternal peace for those who lost
lives in the earthquake that struck many parts of the country. Earlier,
he appreciated federal government for introducing district government
system. Later, the newly elected Nazim took charge of his new office.
Karachi Bureau adds: Kanwar Naveed took over the charge of new District
Nazim of Hyderabad district here on Monday. The oath taking ceremony of
the District Nazim and members of Zila Council was held here at District
Council Hall, which was presided over by the District Returning Officer
Zaheeruddin Leghari. The oath taking ceremonies of Taluka and Union
Councils Nazims as well as the councillors of Taluka and Union Councils
of Hyderabad city, Latifabad, Qasimabad and Hyderabad rural talukas of
Hyderabad district were also held on Monday. The district returning
Officer Zaheeruddin Leghari first administered oath from Kanwar Naveed
and later 76 members of Zila Council Hyderabad took over the oath. The
oath taking ceremony of the members of Taluka Council Hyderabad City and
the councillors of the Union Councils was held at Government Zubeda
Girls College where returning officer Fahimuddin administered oath to
them.
The returning officer Ubaidullah administered oath to the members of
Taluka Council Latifabad and councillors of Union Councils of taluka at
Government Public School Latifabad while a joint oath taking ceremony of
the members of Taluka Councils Qasimabad and Hyderabad rural and the
councillors of both talukas was held at Mumtaz Mirza Auditorium of Sindh
Museum where Mr. Abdul Wahab Abbasi administered oath. After taking
oath, those who were representing Taluka Hyderabad City in Zila Council
included Muhammad Rafiq, Muhammad Javeed, Q. Muhammad Hakam, Nasir Ali
Baloch, Samiuddin, Israr Muhammad Shaikh, Abdul Rauf Jaffery, Munawar
Khan Zai, Muhammad Rashid Khan, Muhammad Younus Rajput, Mazhar Jamil,
Ishtiaq Ahmed, Muhammad Yousuf, Muhammad Arshad Naeem, Syed Shahadat
Ali, Rashid Hameed, Muhammad Ali Gohar, Muhammad Hussain, Qazi Muhammad
Ilyas and Hussain Bux, Nazims of Union Council 1 to 20 respectively. Dr.
Rukhsana Mughees, Azra alias Attiya, Rana Siddiqui, Farhat Khan, Parveen
Akhtar Lodhi, Raeesa Begum and Shamim Begum are the women
representatives on reserved seats from Taluka Hyderabad City in Zila
Council. Those who were representing Taluka Latifabad in Zila Council
included Abbas Khan, Amjad Hussain, Muhammad Arif Khilji, Ghulam Rasool
Samoon, Muhammad AhsanKhan, Rehman Akhtar, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad
Aslam, Raheel Ahmed, Muhammad Ashraf, Syed Fateh Muhammad Shah, Abdul
Hafeez, Muhammad Aijaz Shaikh, Nasir Ali, Khan Muhammad Chandio, Sajda
and Pir Saadullah Jan Sirhandi, Nazims of Union Council 1 to 17
respectively. Shamim Qadri, Tasleem Kazmi, Naseem Khan, Tasleem Iqbal,
Farzana Ansari and Aneela are the women representatives on reserved
seats from Taluka Latifabad in Zila Council Hyderabad.
