By Bushra Rafique

ISLAMABAD—The catastrophe that has taken the whole world by storm, has affected the lives of not only those unfortunate souls directly hit by the impact of the earth quake, but also managed to arouse that humane quality of empathy and compassion among those living miles away from the disaster struck areas.
It is a fact that the whole nation the entire country of Pakistan has stood the test of time, working voluntarily and with the utmost zeal to bring relief to their brothers and sisters.
Among the numerous private efforts Serendip Production's is also putting in a great deal of time and labor, with a relief Camp set up at its premises, the entire office doing rounds collecting donations and company cars mobilized to collect donations from houses and people who cannot come to the camp. So far three trucks full of supplies have been dispatched and more are ready to go. Serendip has teamed with the resourceful Adventure Foundation of Pakistan, and is sending the trucks to Garhi Habib Khel a village torn apart with the disaster and torrential rainstorms.
In a bid to draw the international community Serendip has utilized its international contacts the foremost being Ms. Huma Beg who is in Italy attending the annual Greenaccord Conference on Environment, in yesterday's plenary session made a plea for the relief of the earth quake victims. Amena Syed in Romania is working with school children collecting funds where Pakistan has also been requested to send footage of the disaster to run on Romanian T.V. Channels for collection of donations.
Utilizing its main strength Serendip has produced a 2-minute short film appeal for PTV and international broadcasters to be aired 24/7 for appeal of donations. Serendip has also made a live feed for Yorkshire Television -UK for appeal of donations.
Thus with these efforts in place Serendip has raised nearly a million rupees in cash besides the supplies that are still pouring in.
In a clarion call to the nation we appeal to send in donations either to any other agency or donate whatever they can at House No. 447, Street 38, Sector I-8/2 Islamabad.
