AJK employees directed to report on duty today

MUZAFFARABAD—AJK Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan has directed AJK government employees to report to their duty places till October 17 to face the challenges of catastrophic earthquake.
He said this while addressing a meeting of members of AJK cabinet, members of legislative assembly, chief secretary ,head of departments and district administration here Sunday.
Several decisions were taken in this special meeting which took place under the chairmanship of Sardar Sikandar Hayat. The secretaries of respective ministries were assigned to ensure implementation of these decisions.
AJK Prime Minister said that no home or family can be cited which has not suffered in the disastrous earthquake fully or partially. But the government employees should face this situation courageously, he added.
He warned the employees except those whose parents or family members have lost life in the quake would not report to the offices would be proceeded against. Secretaries and heads of departments should provide lists of employees who were killed or received fatal injuries in the quake.
He issued directives that the departments whose offices had been destroyed should strive for acquisition of buildings.
He directed the police department to take serious notice of loot and plunder related incidents with reference to relief goods on Kohala-Muzaffarabad, Kohala-Bagh road and other inter-district routes and take stern actions against the culprits.
He urged the ministers, members of legislative assembly and advisors to set up relief committees in their respective constituencies and gear up the relief activities with the cooperation of local aid workers and social organizations. They should coordinate with army personnel and step up relief operations, he added.
He maintained that a control room be set up in chief secretary office so that complete information could be provided to those who needed them.
Complains are coming in that certain officers are showing apathy towards the affectees and are showing negligence in the performance of their duties, he said cautioning stern action would be initiated against them.
He went on to say that besides Kashmir house Islamabad, office of Kashmir centers in Rawalpindi and Lahore be used as information centers.
Lauding the role of social organisations and NGOs engaged in pulling out dead bodies from debris, he instructed that full cooperation be extended to them.
Arrangements be made to ensure opening of shops, petrol pumps and gas stations to facilitate the supply of eatables and bring the normalcy to life, he underscored.—Online
