Media could play vital role in rescue, relief operation: Jamal

ISLAMABAD—No body could deny the fact that Media is the nose, eye and ear of any nation and instrument of public mobilization and making public opinion. It has been proved true by Pakistani media in the rescue and relief efforts, being carried out for the earthquake affectees. These views were expressed by Federal Minister for Tourism Dr. G. G. Jamal on Sunday.
He further stated that Media setting priorities for the people and made accessible those areas which were unaccessible. It is media, which mobilized the Government as well public. Media told them that how to help the victims and where reliefs are required and where the lope holes are laying in relief operation, he added. Media find out the information and fact and the true condition of the people. We expect the same positive and vital role from the media in future too, he said.
While commenting on the relief and rehabilitation efforts, the Minister said that Government along with the people and international community, is making all out efforts to give maximum relief to the people and has been extended relief operation to the far-flung areas.
“I along with the other members of NWFP Committee for supervision of relief efforts, have been living in the Mensehra and Balakot for the last one week in earthquake hit areas in order to see and supervise the relief and rescue operation from close quarter,” he mentioned. The Government under leadership of President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz utilizing maximum resources to meet the challenges.
The Minister extended thanks to the people of Pakistan and Mediamen from the bottom of heart that stood firm with the affectees in the time of trouble.
