MAAP forms Media Co-ordination Center

ISLAMABAD—Media Artists Association of Pakistan; MAAP and PTCL, in order to provide maximum relief to the earthquake affectees while maintaining and providing an organized data about them to the ones who seek it including families of the bereaved and the media, a Media Co-ordination Center has been set up which would take operations from Monday, 9:00a.m. This was revealed at a press conference jointly organized by PTCL and MAAP, at a local hotel, here this Friday.
TV artists of MAAP, speaking at the occasion, called upon the government and private sector not to conduct relief operations individually but to initiate co-ordinated efforts and with proper communication among each other, as a joint unit. They hoped that the Media Co-ordination Center would serve the purpose. Junaid I.Khan; Chairman PTCL, on the other hand, urged the masses to provide any information about the quake victims that they could get, to be included in their database.
He stated that PTCL coverage was affected in 19 locations at the Northern Areas and AJK. In 13 places, the services had been restored while work was on at other places. He said that 2000 PTCL lines had been affected. However, PTCL has set up free PCOs at various spots for the masses to communicate with their families they have lost word with. He said that PTCL was trying to provide a wide-scale coverage and was endeavouring to provide a network that could reach out to the maximum of the masses.
The MAAP team present at the occasion included Abdullah Qadwani, Atiqa Odho, Shakil, Zeba Shehnaz, Seema Ghazal (writer), Ali Abdul, Farhan Ali Agha and Agha Sheraz. However, the MAAP team expressed that those of them who were not present at the presser were also with the quake victims.
