Commodore Shahid Iqbal promoted

ISLAMABAD—The Government of Pakistan has announced the promotion of Commodore Shahid lqbal SI(M) to the rank of Rear Admiral with immediate effect. This was notified by Ministry of Defence.
Rear Admiral SHAHID IQBAL SI (M) was commissioned in Operations Branch of Pakistan Navy in 1974. He is Principal Warfare Officer by specialization and has attended PWO course in UK. Admiral is graduate of Turkish Staff College and did War Course from National Defence College Islamabad.
He has held various field,command and staff appointments notable being command of a Missile Boat, a Guided Missile Destroyer and Chief Staff Officer to Commander Pakistan Fleet. At Naval Headquarters, his Staff appointments include Director Naval Operations, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) and Director General Naval Intelligence. He has also served as Directing Staff at PN War College and NDC (War Wing).
The Admiral is happily married and has 1 son and 2 daughters.—DPR(Navy)
