German company donates 3 trucks of relief goods for quake victims

ISLAMABAD—Merck Marker (Pvt.) Ltd., brought 3 full trucks from Lahore with waterproof tents with all accessories to provide accommodation for at least 1500 people. This consignment was delivered at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) since that part of the tents will be needed on the hospital campus. Two trucks will follow to the Northern Areas of Pakistan, as wished by the Federal Ministry of Health. Having in mind the recent incidents of hijacking of trucks, the consignment came with armed guards to warranty the delivery to the most needed victims of the earthquake.
The German Merck KGaA, Darmstadt and their Pakistani Subsidiary Merck Marker (Pvt.) Ltd., also donated Rs 20 million to the Citizens Foundation Earthquake Relief Fund. The Citizens Foundation in a two-phased strategy is providing systematic relief to the survivors of the earthquake in the Northern Areas and Azad Kashmir: Immediate Relief and Permanent Housing.
The value will be used for the construction of seismically designed homes in the Northern Area and Azad Kashmir.
In addition to above, all employees of Merck Marker have decided to contribute one day’s salary for the same cause. Merck Marker also donated Rs 100,000 to Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OICCI) for the acquisition of additional tents.
Merck Marker has been active and well known in Pakistan in supporting social projects across the country. The team, with deep mourning, would like to support the people of Pakistan in this hour of grief.,
Merck Marker belongs to the German Merck KGaA based in Darmstadt, Germany and has been dealing in pharmaceuticals, chemicals and diagnostic equipment in Pakistan for more than 40 years, with approximately 800 employees.
