German company donates 3 trucks of relief
goods for quake victims
By Adnan Rafique
ISLAMABAD—Merck Marker (Pvt.) Ltd., brought 3 full trucks from Lahore
with waterproof tents with all accessories to provide accommodation for
at least 1500 people. This consignment was delivered at Pakistan
Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) since that part of the tents will
be needed on the hospital campus. Two trucks will follow to the Northern
Areas of Pakistan, as wished by the Federal Ministry of Health. Having
in mind the recent incidents of hijacking of trucks, the consignment
came with armed guards to warranty the delivery to the most needed
victims of the earthquake.
The German Merck KGaA, Darmstadt and their Pakistani Subsidiary Merck
Marker (Pvt.) Ltd., also donated Rs 20 million to the Citizens
Foundation Earthquake Relief Fund. The Citizens Foundation in a
two-phased strategy is providing systematic relief to the survivors of

and Permanent Housing.
The value will be used for the construction of seismically designed
homes in the Northern Area and Azad Kashmir.
In addition to above, all employees of Merck Marker have decided to
contribute one day’s salary for the same cause. Merck Marker also
donated Rs 100,000 to Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce & Industry
(OICCI) for the acquisition of additional tents.

social projects across the country. The team, with deep mourning, would
like to support the people of Pakistan in this hour of grief.,
