Opposition rejects Shujaat’s call for joint visit
Staff Report

ISLAMABAD—Combined Opposition turned down the call of PML Chief Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain for a joint visit of the quake-hit areas by helicopter on Sunday. The PPPP leader Makhdoom Amin Faheem said that all the Opposition leaders except Maulana Fazalur Rehman are unanimous on the view that the helicopter being offered for the visit of joint visit may be spared for relief operation in the quake-hit areas.
Online adds: MMA central leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmad has called upon the government to convene All Parties Conference (APC), to cope with the situation arising out of devastating earthquake.
Talking to Online here Friday, he stressed that government should allow Nawaz Sharif, Benazir and Altaf Hussain to return to home so that they could guide the nation in this hour of crisis. If government will not allow them then they should themselves come back as nation needs them now. MMA will side with them fully, he underlined. Expressing regret over MQM leader Altaf Hussain criticism for religious parties, he said that the time is not for targeting each other. It is not correct to criticize religious parties after having a photo session with truckloads of relief goods. MMA appreciates the assistance and relief goods being dispatched by every party including MQM to quake affectees. But no one should take political mileage out of this situation. He asked Altaf Hussain to come back to Pakistan. If not now, then when will he return, Hafiz questioned.
He told Al-Khidmat Foundation, Al-Khair Welfare Trust, Al-Rashid Welfare Trust and other social organizations are working day and night in the quake stricken areas in AJK and NWFP. Besides NWFP ministers from MMA and members of assembly are not only having a permanent stay in these areas but also are contributing to the relief and rescue activities. But they don’t want to have photo session with the quake victims like professional politicians.
