SPI registers nominal increase in kitchen items' prices

ISLAMABAD—The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on
October 6 for the lowest income group upto Rs. 3000 has registered 0.71%
increase over previous week.
The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was
recorded at 134.12 as against 133.18 recorded in the previous week,
according to Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS).
The weekly SPI has been computed with revised base2000-2001=100 covering
17 urban centers and 53 essential items for all income groups and
combined.
During the week under review average prices of 13 items registered
decrease, while those of 21 items increased with remaining 19 items'
prices unchanged.
The items which recorded decrease in their average prices during the
week under review included chicken farm, LPG (11 KG Cylinder), rice
basmati broken, masoor pulse washed, rice irri-6, moong pulse washed,
gram pulse washed, red chillies powdered, elec. bulb (60-Wats), wheat
flour (av. qlt), milk powdered (Nido), bath soap (lifebuoy) and tea
(packet).
The items which registered increase in their prices included tomatoes,
onions, diesel, petrol, kerosene, bananas, garlic, potatoes, egg (farm),
shirting, coarse latha, veg. ghee (loose), gur, mutton, curd, cooked
beef (plate), cooked dal (plate), firewood, sugar, mash pulse washed and
beef.
The items with no change in their average prices during the week under
review included wheat, bread plain med. size, milk fresh, veg. ghee
(tin), mustard oil, cooking oil (tin), salt (powdered), tea (prepared),
cigarettes K-2, lawn, voil printed, Sandal gents (Bata), Sandal ladies
(Bata), Chappal spng.
(Bata), match box, washing soap (nylon), gas charges upto 3.3719 MMBTU,
elec. charges 1-100 and telephone charges. |
