Pakistan XI faces Karachi in 4-day match from 16th

KARACHI—The four-day practice match between Pakistan XI and Karachi will
be played at National Stadium from Sunday.
The opening match of the three match preparatory series between Pakistan
XI and Peshawar Panthers to be played at Peshawar was canceled due to
Earthquake in various parts of NWFP and Azad Kashmir and some other
areas of the country.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is conducting these matches to provide
build-up to the national team and also judge the performance and
temperament of some players who are in contention for a place in
Pakistan team for the series against England.
The visitors are due to arrive in Islamabad on October 26 to play a
series of three Test matches, five One-Day Internationals and a couple
of side matches and a one-day warm up match.
Younis Khan will lead Pakistan XI while Hasan Raza will be the Captain
of Karachi side.
Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer will have close look at some aspiring
youngsters, bidding a place in the Pakistan team.
Home team’s main vulnerability will be its batting which is helping in
achieving their winning goals and become a formidable unit.
Besides the coach, practice will also help selectors to have another
look at the players, who were discarded after playing few Test matches
for country.
Test umpire Saleem Badar and international Afzaal Ahmed will supervise
the match.

Muhammad Yousuf, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal (wicket-keeper), Abdul
Razzaq, Arshad Khan, Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Irshad and Muhammad Khalil.
Karachi: Hasan Raza (Captain), Faisal Athar, Asim Kamal, Faisal
Iqbal, Khalid Latif, Khurram Manzoor, Nomanullah, Amin-ur-Rehman
(wicket-keeper) Danish Kaneria, Tanveer Ahmed and Malik Aftab. |
