Shujaat lauds
masses role in relief efforts

ISLAMABAD—President Pakistan Muslim League Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has
said that people belonging to all segments of the society are playing
exemplary role in relief activities in the quake-stricken areas.
Keeping aside their political affiliations, the people are busy in
relief and rescue activities, the PML President told a private
television in an interview telecast Thursday.
When asked to comment on NWFP Chief Minister, Akram Khan Durrani’s
participation in the National Security Council’s Meeting he said, this
is a positive development. Had the leader of opposition in National
Assembly, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman also attended the meeting it would
have been much better, he added.
The PML President endorsed the idea of legislation to ensure
construction of building in line with seismic requirements.

He said such a catastrophe has occurred for the first time in history of
the country so the means and methods should be explored to efficiently
