Lahore, Amritsar bus service put off
NEW DELHI—Lahore-Amritsar test bus service has been postponed for an
indefinite period due to recent earthquake in Pakistan that has stunned
the entire world. While talking to BBC, high officials of Indian State
East Punjab said that due to recent devastating earthquake in Pakistan,
Lahore-Amritsar test bus service has been postponed for an indefinite
period that was scheduled to be started in the current month.
Indian officials opine that as Pakistan administration is busy in
providing relief activities in quake hit areas it has been decided to
delay its start. They added that Indian Foreign Ministry after joint
consultation with Pakistan will announce a new date.
On the other hand, celebrations were to be held on the ocassion of Guru
Nanak birthday in Nankana Sahib on October 24, however have been
canceled for a while after earthquake. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has
telephoned Pakistan President Gen Pervez Musharraf and expressed his
sincere concern about the loss of life and property in Azad Kashmir,
reports Door Darshan. Expressing his grief and sorrow over the tragic
earth quake hitting Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Manmohan Singh extended
his all assistance and help for disaster relief in the affected
