Memorial service for Japanese official held

ISLAMABAD—A memorial service for late Satoru Narahara held here on Thursday. Mr Narahara and his son died in the tragic collapse of Margalla Towers, during the recent earthquake, which struck Islamabad on October 13, 2005. Satoru Narahara was a long term JICA expert to the Pakistan's Environment Protection Agency for solid waste management. People from different walks of life attended the memorial service of late Narahara and paid rich tributes to him. Tahir Iqbal, Federal Minster for Environment lauded the services of late Narahara to Pakistan. He said Mr Narahara was a true professional and seriously contributed in the development of Pakistan, and had a deep understanding of this country. We are very shocked and grieved by his sudden demise of Mr Narahara. As an expert he devoted to the industrialization of Pakistan, and had high ideals, and it was expected that he would continue to assist for the development of this country with his admirable expertise, he said.
Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Nobutaka Machimura also spoke on the occasion and paid pay homage to the departed soul and expressed his gratitude for Mr. Satoru Narahara's activity and contribution to the development of Pakistan.
