PTCL employees donate Rs 30m for quake affectees

ISLAMABAD—PTCL employees have also donated Rs 30 million to President's
relief fund, over and above Rs. 20 millions of relief goods and
services.
PTCL has increased number of public calls offices already functioning at
the earthquake affected areas. PTCL has made special arrangements
whereby all such phone calls would either be attended by the PTCL
officials deputed on the spot or some volunteers who have been assigned
the task to attend calls and update the callers about the whereabouts of
their dear ones.
In case, the staff deputed on duty does not have first hand required
information, they would obtain the contact numbers of the callers and
inform them after getting the required information. People from abroad
can also call on these numbers for getting information.

Likewise PTCL has also provided nationwide outgoing telephone facilities
to the residents and others of the above mentioned locations. People can
simply go to PTCL relief centers and make nationwide phone calls in
order to inform their relatives about their well being.
PTCL has also announced an Account No 0111593-0 UBL Jinnah Avenue
Islamabad, where donations can be made. Besides, the Company has also
established relief camps throughout the country and made all
arrangements of the transportation of relief goods to the affected
areas.
In Azad Kashmir, PTCL has made special arrangements to augment relief
efforts launched by SCO, is responsible for telephone network in Azad
Kashmir. PTCL has donated 50 sets of Satellite phones worth Rs. 4.4
million to Special Communication Organization (SCO). People can make
nationwide, local and international calls from these telephone sets. It
may be mentioned here that after the quake all telecom facilities in AJK
have ceased to function. About 12000 telephone lines were affected by
earthquake in Mansehra, Batagram, Jareed, Naran etc out of which over
10000 have been restored.
The restoration of rest of the connections is under way and as soon as
the roads are clear, PTCL staff would reach the sites and fix the
phones. It may be mentioned here that PTCL employees have also donated
Rs 30 million to President's relief fund, over and above Rs. 20 millions
of relief goods and services. |
