Import of blankets exempted from duty

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Textile Industry Mushtaq Ali Cheema who is also Chairman of Relief Good Collections Committee on Textile sector, has urged the Textile community that they should join hand with the government and NGOs in relief work to help families and victims of the earthquake hit areas.
Minister appealed the business community that they should take part activity for donations in President Relief Fund and arrange relief goods for affectees as they are in miserable condition. They needs edibles, tents, blankets medicines and cloths urgently.
He said, he himself holds a meeting with CBR chairman and discussed matter regarding import of Blanket and Tent for Relief purposes. CBR, Chairman has agreed to withdraw import duty and other taxes from import of Blankets and tents for the purpose of donations to Relief Fund. In this connection the SRO will be issued tomorrow. Now, importer can import Blankets and tents without payment of duty and taxes, he added.
Minister disclosed many Relief Goods Collections centres have been set up in Faisalabad to collect the Relief goods. People of Faisalabad particularly Textile Industries related people should corporate with them, he added. Mr. Mushtaq Ali Cheema will leave to Mansehra and Balakot tomorrow.
