has regretted that calling of controversial National Security Council (NSC)
amid existence of country’s two supreme upper and lower houses
institutions is not appreciable move saying that President Musharraf
should forthwith postponed the scheduled NSC meeting. “Despite the
existence of two democratic institutions National Assembly and Senate
institutions President General Pervez Musharraf move to summon the
controversial NSC meeting is a joke as the whole nation is mourning the
deaths of thousands of quake victims,” fiery Qazi expressed these
remarks while talking to a crowded press conference at his residence on
Tuesday.
“Time is not ripe for to politicking the quake victims issue and the
government should summon All Parties Conference (APC) and subsequently
take the opposition into confidence to mull more steps to facilitate the
massive tremor victims,” he underlined. “We are ready to hold
negotiations with government at any forum at this critical juncture with
exception of NSC,” he said adding that coming Friday would be observed
as “Yom-e-Duaa”.
He informed that the decision to observe October 12 as black day had
been taken back saying however, the army was meddled in civilian affairs
on October 12 as well. He noted that all the national institutions
should have close liaison and the compatriots should extend their full
support to army to step up relief operations. He regretted that army
attitude was negative in dealing with civil organizations.
The army forthwith suspended its so-called anti-insurgency operation in
restive North and South Waziristan Agencies and take part in rescue and
relief operations in quake-hit areas of the country, he underscored.
Referring to Alkhidmat Group, which is taking part in relief activities,
he said that Alkhidmat Group charge had been handed over to former Nazim

of relief goods to quake affectees. He asked the government to inform
the nation how much aid assistance of collected Rs. 5 billion had been
