Pak Army quickens relief operations at
quake-hit areas
RAWALPINDI—On the fourth day after the Saturday’s earthquake which
claimed thousands of lives and many other injured, rescue and relief
operations are underway at a much faster pace to help and rescue the
quake affected people of the Azad Kashmir and NWFP. Pakistan Armed
Forces, with its all resources are busy in rescuing and providing relief
goods to the quake affected people of the Azad Kashmir and NWFP.
A sortie of Pakistan Army mobile surgical team was sent to Rawlakot to
provide at the
spot treatment, this morning.
In the last twenty four hours 128 sorties have been flown to quake hit
areas in which thirty ton ration and medicines has been transported to
affected areas of Azad Kashmir and NWFP for distribution among effected
people. While another 10 tons of relief items were also dispatched.
Long queues of trucks and other vehicles carrying relief goods for
earthquake victims have been seen at Mansehra and Muzaffarabad Road
which has been dispatched f from all over the country. Hundreds of
volunteers and doctors from all over the country have reached in
Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Rawlakot.
Fresh troops of Pakistan Army has also been sent which will accelerate
the ongoing rescue operations.
8 US helicopter are also taking part in the ongoing rescue and relief
operations while 4 Afghan and 2 German helicopters are being inducted in
the same operations.
A German mobile hospital has been transported to Muzaffarabad in 3
Chinok and 1 Black Hawk helicopters. A French field hospital has been
established with in Balakot with 71 doctors and paramedic staff. Russian
medical team comprising 71 doctors and, paramedic staff with two
ambulances has been established in Muzaffarabad. 2 Japanese medical
teams comprising 30 doctors and paramedic staff have sent to
Muzaffarabad.
Meanwhile, a team from Sweden comprising 70 doctors and paramedic-staff
and a team from Spain comprising 33 Doctors, paramedic staff and 9
rescuers reached Pakistan to provide medical facilities and evacuate the
earthquake affectee.—ISPR |
