Int'l, local funds rising by passing days

RAWALPINDI—In order to provide rescue and relief services to the earthquake devastated areas of NWFP and AJK different countries of the world are sending relief goods, medicine and rescue teams to Pakistan. As many as 9 countries namely China, Jordan, France, Iran, Italy, USA, Azerbaijan and Russia, sent the relief item sorties arrived at PAF Base Chaklala yesterday night China dispatched Cargo aircraft carrying 40 tons of ordnance stores and tentage items. Jordon's C-130 aircraft arrived with 60.500 ton ordnance store material while France's, passenger aircraft brought 26 tons of relief goods. Iran's Cargo plan arrived with 19 ton food item and 7.1 ton tentage material.
USA sent C-130 aircraft carrying 15 ton food items, 13.200 ton tentage material and 1.800 ton medicines, where as Azerbaijan sent a Cargo aircraft carrying food item, medicines and tentage. Subsequently Russian Cargo and USA C-130 aircraft arrived PAF Base Chaklala her this morning carrying relief items.
Army Welfare Trust and its associated companies have donated a sum of Rupees 100 million to Presidents disaster relief fund for the earthquake victims. All employees of AWT hove also donated their three day salary in the presidents disaster relief fund.
Meanwhile all Business concern of Army welfare Trust are collecting donations for the quake victims. The donation will be handed over to General Headquarter for distribution among victims. Chairman Army Welfare Trust Lieutenant General (Retd) Masud Pervez today presented a cheque worth 107 Million to Vice Chief of Army Staff General Ahsan Saleem Hyat at the General Headquarters.
