Bureau Report

LAHORE—National football training camp for the build up of team to take part in 14th Asian Cup qualifier and SAFF Championship will commence from October 22 at Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad. “The camp will be attended by 63 players who have participated in different international, national senior and junior tournament besides national league”, said Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)’s President Faisal Saleh Hayat here on Monday.
Pakistan will clash with Bangladesh in the home-and-away matches of 14th Asian Cup Football qualifiers on November 11 and 18. Later on, from December 7-17, Pakistan will organize the SAFF Championship. “Both assignments in 2005 plus AFC Challenge Cup and 10th South Asia Games in 2006 are very important and we are taking all out measures to train our side for attaining desired results”, said PFF Chief.
He added “success in last June’s Indo-Pak Series for NBP Cup does not mean that everything has been achieved. We have still to go a long way and success should not be taken in a way which could hamper our prospects in the coming events”. PFF President said more efforts and hard work is needed to further uplift the performance of the national team which has started showing encouraging results after a long gap.
“Our focus should be on eradicating mistakes and to prepare the players under a plan to overcome pressure situations in which in the past usually they flattered and such attitude ruined our chances in the important matches”, he maintained.
