Global media contacts DM Chief for quake
update
By Uzma Zafar
ISLAMABAD—Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Mail; Makhdoom Babar, since the
worst of it's kind earthquake hit Pakistan here Saturday, has been
receiving numerous phone calls for international media organizations,
having no rep in Pakistan, seeking updates on earthquake and analysis on
world response and ongoing relief and rescue operation.
The received calls include those from CNN Turkey, Radio Johannesburg, a
German TV channel, Shanghai Morning Post, CCTV-9 and Radio New Zealand,
to name a few, who called in to inquire through live updates, about the
prevailing situation in Pakistan, after the tremors. The Chief briefed
each one comprehensively, assisting them in their different queries.
It is pertinent to note here that many of these organizations along many
others, offered to pay the DM Chief for his interviews. However, Mr.
Makhdoom Babar, politely refused to accept any cash and instead he asked
the respective organizations to present the amount to President of
Pakistan's Relief Funds for quake victims or else, in their own
respective countries' relief procedure set up for the same.
